Guided days
Four guided days, each one private
Every day on this page is one licensed guide for your party only. Pick the length, decide whether you want a car and driver, and change the stops to suit you.
Compare the four days
| Day | Hours | Car and driver | Walking | Best months | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Half-day guide, three sample routes | 4 | Optional | Light to moderate | All year | On request |
| North island day with car | 8 | Included | Moderate; short forest path | November – April | On request |
| South and heritage day | 8 | Included | Light; pagoda steps | All year; Bai Sao calmer May – October | On request |
| Morning market and photo walk | about 4 | Not needed | About 3 – 4 km on flat streets | All year | On request |
The four are starting points, not fixed products. Most guests keep the frame of one and swap one or two stops. The planning page shows which combinations fit into four hours and which only work in eight.
Guide only, or guide with a car
Guide only suits Duong Dong, where the market, the river mouth, Dinh Cau and the night market are all within walking distance, and it suits travellers who already have a car for the week. It also works with ride-hailing: published Grab fares for short rides inside Duong Dong are about VND 30,000 – 60,000, and the guide can book and direct the driver.
Guide with a private car and driver makes sense once the route leaves town. Duong Dong to An Thoi takes about 40 – 50 minutes by road, Duong Dong to Ganh Dau about 50 – 70 minutes by bus timetable, and a day that touches both coasts can spend two hours or more in transit. With a car, the guide uses that time to brief you on the next stop rather than negotiating with drivers at every turn.

How to choose between them
- First day on the island and no fixed plan: the half-day guide, route A, gives you Duong Dong's layout and food so you can explore on your own afterwards.
- Interested in the war years and religion: the south and heritage day puts Phu Quoc Prison and Ho Quoc Pagoda in the right order, with Bai Sao for the afternoon.
- Want forest, a remote cape and fishing settlements: the north island day, best in the dry months when the red-dirt sections are firm.
- You carry a camera, or you wake early anyway: the morning market and photo walk, finished before the heat.
What every guided day includes
- One guide with an international guide card, for your party only, for the hours booked
- A written route with clock times, sent before the day
- Pick-up and drop-off at your hotel lobby in Duong Dong, Ong Lang or Bai Truong; other areas on request
- The guide's lunch on eight-hour days, and the driver's when a car is booked
- Bottled water in the car
Entry tickets, your meals, drinks and purchases are not included. The pricing page explains why, and how to book covers changes and cancellations.
Languages and lead times
Every guided day is planned in English, and the guide's working language is written on your quote before you pay. If you would prefer another language, say which one in the form and ask for availability. We will check who is free on your date and tell you plainly whether we can cover it; we do not promise a language we cannot staff, and we do not publish a list that might be out of date by the time you travel.
For English-speaking guides, a week's notice is comfortable outside holidays, and next-day bookings are often possible. The morning market walk needs your request by the early afternoon before, because the meeting time falls before sunrise. Around Lunar New Year, guides and cars book up early, so write as soon as your dates are fixed.
What you will not find here
We do not sell join-in group tours, boat trips to the An Thoi islands, packaged food or fishing-village tours, or private yacht charters. Those are different products with different operators, licences and safety routines. A guided day can pass through a fishing settlement or stop for lunch at a seafood restaurant on the way, but the product is the guide's time, not a packaged experience.
Island boat trips from An Thoi have been running again since late July 2026 under stricter checks on vessel registration, life jackets and passenger numbers. If you want one, book it directly with a licensed boat operator; the boat crew, not a land guide, decides on the day whether the sea is safe.

Common questions
Questions travellers ask most
Can we join another family to share the cost?
Only if you already travel together and book as one party. We do not combine strangers into one guided day.
Can a four-hour day become an eight-hour day on the spot?
Sometimes, if the guide has no later booking. The extra hours are charged at the overtime rate on your quote, so it is cheaper to book eight hours if you think you will want them.
Is hotel pick-up included everywhere on the island?
Pick-up is included in Duong Dong, Ong Lang and Bai Truong. Bai Dai in the north and Bai Khem in the south add road time, which we price into the quote.
Do the sample days run on fixed dates?
No. Each is private and runs on the date you choose, subject to a guide and, if needed, a car being free.
