About

One guide, one party, a written plan

Phu Quoc Guides arranges private local guides on Phu Quoc by the half day or the full day, with or without a car and driver. That is the whole business, and this page explains how we run it and where we stop.

What we do

We match a licensed local guide to your party for four or eight hours and, if you want one, add a private car with a driver. Before the day we send a written route with clock times and one price that lists what it includes and excludes. On the day the guide meets you in your hotel lobby, plans the order of stops around opening hours, heat and light, explains what you are looking at, translates where you need it, and gets you back on time.

We keep the product narrow on purpose. A guide's time is the thing we sell. That makes it easy to compare us with anyone else, and easy for you to see what you are paying for.

How we work, in mechanisms rather than adjectives

  • Carded guides only. Every guide on our bookings holds an international guide card under the 2017 Law on Tourism and works under our written assignment. The guide licence page explains what that means.
  • A written programme. The guide carries your route in Vietnamese, as the law requires, and we send you the English version before the day.
  • Separate driver. When a car is booked, the guide does not drive. The guide's attention is on you.
  • No commission stops. We do not put shops on a route unless you ask. If you want pepper, pearls or fish sauce, the guide takes you, and what you buy is your business.
  • One price per booking. The guide's and driver's lunch is in it; overtime is charged only when you choose it.

What we don't do

  • Join-in group tours with strangers on a shared bus. Every booking is private.
  • Boat trips, island hopping, squid fishing nights or yacht charters. We do not run or resell boats.
  • Packaged food tours or fishing-village experiences. A guided day can stop for a meal or walk through a village, but we do not sell those as products.
  • Hotels, flights, visas and airport transfers on their own.
  • Groups larger than seven, which need more than one guide and car.
  • Guiding in languages we cannot cover on your date. We plan in English; for others, ask for availability.
  • Interpreting for police, hospital or legal matters. We help you find the right person; we do not replace them.

Who the guides are

Our guides are Vietnamese nationals with international guide cards, as the law requires for guiding foreign visitors. We do not publish a roster of names and photographs, because who is free changes from week to week and a page of faces you may never meet helps nobody. Instead, your confirmation names the guide assigned to your day, and the guide shows the card when you meet.

Why there are no reviews on this site

We do not publish testimonials or star ratings here. Quotes on a company's own website are chosen by the company, and you have no way to check them. We would rather give you things you can check yourself: the written route and price before you pay, the guide's name on the confirmation, the guide card on the day, and the five questions on our licence page that any professional guide will answer without hesitation.

If you want to ask something before booking, ask it in the form. A detailed question gets a detailed answer, and the way we answer is a fair test of how the day itself will go.

Where we work

Phu Quoc only. The island is a special zone (dac khu) of An Giang province since 1 July 2025, about 50 km from north to south. Our guides know three areas in depth: Duong Dong, Ham Ninh and the east coast, and Ganh Dau and the north. The south appears in our south and heritage day for the prison and the pagoda. We collect guests from Duong Dong, Ong Lang and Bai Truong at no extra cost, and from Bai Dai and Bai Khem with road time added.

How we ask guests to behave

  • Ask before photographing people, and accept a no.
  • Cover shoulders and knees at pagodas and shrines.
  • Leave starfish in the water at Rach Vem; look, do not lift.
  • Carry rubbish out of the national park; nothing is cooked in the forest.
  • Pay sellers the price they ask, or walk on politely; the guide will tell you if bargaining is normal there.

Common questions

Questions travellers ask most

Are you a tour operator or a booking site?

We arrange private guided days directly: we assign the guide, write the programme and, when booked, provide the car and driver. We do not resell other companies' tours.

Can we request the same guide again for a second day?

Yes. Say so in the form and we will try to keep the same guide, subject to their schedule.

Do you offer guides for other parts of Vietnam?

No. We work on Phu Quoc only.
